CALHN researchers may apply to the HSCGB to access funds for their research.

Four types of funding are available:

1. Research projects
2. Research equipment
3. Clinical equipment (not research)
4. Other (non-research / non-clinical)

The CEO Clinical Rapid Implementation Project Scheme (CRIPS) offers grants of up to $200,000 over two years to support innovative projects that identify real solutions and improve health service delivery within CALHN.

Clinical Research Grants for Allied and Scientific Health, Pharmacy and Nursing are designed to support and promote clinical research by non-medical health service staff within CALHN that will ultimately lead to improving health outcomes for patients.

The Dawes Scholarship provides support for medical or dental graduates eligible for registration in South Australia or appropriately qualified scientists or health professionals to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) 鈥� either a Research Doctorate or Research Master鈥檚 Course.

Open to CALHN employees, the Florey Fellowship aims to attract candidates who have demonstrated significant research potential in their early post-doctoral or post medical specialist training years. The Fellowship supports the salary of a Grant Funded Scientist Level 3 (GSC3) Full Time (1 FTE) for a maximum term of 3 years.

These three-year Early Career Research听Fellowships aim to encourage persons of outstanding ability to make biomedical research a career and provide an opportunity to increase their competitiveness for various early career fellowships (e.g. NHMRC Investigator 鈥� Emerging Leader Level 2).

A once-off $3000 payment to support honours study in the听biological or health and medical sciences.

All Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Grant Applications and Agreements must be registered with CALHN Research Services.

Grant Applications and Agreements can be registered for听clinical research projects or projects that routinely collect health data or utilise CALHN听resources. These projects require review to ensure the project鈥檚 feasibility, availability of resources, alignment with CALHN priorities, clinical and听practical relevance and importance to patient care.

1. Researcher completes the Notification of Intention to Apply听Form (NIA)听well听before submission

2.听Researcher submits copies of all application documents:

听 听 听鉁�听Completed NIA

听 听 听鉁�听Endorsements from the relevant CALHN authorities (via the signed NIAF or email is sufficient) including:

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥⑻鼵linical Program Director (must confirm in-kind contributions) AND

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� Medical/Nursing/Allied Health Lead (based on study type)

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� Digital Health (if data access/platform is required)

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� Pharmacy, SA Pathology and other Statewide Services (if applicable)

听 听 听鉁� Application documents (Application Report,听Application听Summary and Project Proposal) including:听听

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� A听complete budget covering all听research-related costs听such as Pharmacy, Pathology, IT services.

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥�听CALHN-related work听including in-kind contributions and research finance approval.

听 听 听鉁�听If applicable please advise about:

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� compliance requirements (i.e., animal, human ethics required)

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听鈥� SA Pathology service quote (FOR-1928)

听 听 听鉁� If required by the funding body, provide a draft of the Letter of Support, see below dropdown.

3. CALHN Research Grants Team Provides Confirmation of Support or Required Supporting Documents

Such as but not limited to: Email Confirmation of Support, Letter of Support, Evidence of Commitment and CALHN employment, Facilities Letters

Please note, CALHN will send a Withdrawal of Support in the event that the required endorsements are not obtained prior to application.

Letters of Support are typically only provided if CALHN is a Partner Organisation. In all other instances, an email endorsement is sent to the Administering Institution, unless specified otherwise in the grant scheme guidelines.

If required (i.e., some MRFF grants), CALHN CIs must draft a Letter of Support听using the CALHN LoS template (contact the CALHN Research Grants Team at听[email protected]听to request the template).

NOTE: CALHN Institutional sign-off (including LoS signing) must be completed by an authorised CALHN delegate (in line with the CALHN Instrument of Procurement, Financial and Contractual Delegations 鈥� this can be found on the CALHN Intranet), this will be facilitated by the CALHN Research Grants Team once all documents are submitted.

Principal Investigators, Business Managers or Heads of Departments or Clinical Program Directors do not have the legal authority to sign research endorsements on behalf of CALHN.

For NHMRC and MRFF applications via Sapphire:听

鈥�听Central Adelaide Local Health Network Incorporated should be listed as a Participating Institution (or Partner Organisation,听if applicable)

鈥⑻�CALHN Investigators' Actual/Primary Institution should be Central Adelaide Local Health Network Incorporated (not听RAH,听TQEH,听SA Pathology, etc.).
